Tribal Survival Rules
[1.0 Game Overview]
Welcome to Tribal Survival—a game of strategy, prediction, and Survivor insight. Each week, Coaches select half of the current cast (rounded down if the number is odd) that they believe will remain safe at Tribal Council. If every one of your picks survives, you score a weekly win. At the end of the season, the Coach with the best record on our site-wide leaderboard is crowned the Tribal Survival Champion!
[1.1 - General Overview]
- Who Can Play: All users are invited to join our site-wide competition. In the future, private groups will be available.
- Objective: Predict which castaways will remain in the game each week. Your success is measured by your weekly record.
-
Multiple Entries: Coaches can create up to three independent entries per season, each competing with its own record.
- Your first entry is created when you join the season. Additional entries (2 and 3) can be created at any time during the season.
- Each entry has its own weekly picks, Optional Opt-Out, win/loss record, and preseason tie-breaking picks.
[1.2 - Weekly Picks & Winning Condition]
- Weekly Picks: Before the airing or update of each episode’s results, every Coach must select exactly half of the current cast (if the total is odd, round down).
-
Scoring a Week:
- Win: If all of your chosen castaways remain in the game, you earn a win for that week.
- Loss: If even one of your selected castaways is eliminated, you receive a loss on your record for that week.
-
Optional Opt-Out: You may opt out of making picks for one round per season. This will not count as a loss or a win.
- You do not have to do this and may have a better record at the end of the season for playing every round.
- This will prolong an undefeated streak if used while still undefeated.
- This will not affect your winning streak—it pauses streak progression but does not break it.
- Auto Loss: If you fail to make your selections by the designated deadline or joins late, your Optional Opt-Out will be automatically used. If you have already used your Optional Opt-Out, an automatic loss is recorded for that week.
- Adjustment Window: Coaches can adjust their picks up until the deadline each week, ensuring that your selections reflect the latest game developments.
[1.3 - Leaderboard]
- Season Record: Your season record is based on the number of wins and losses you accumulate each week. The Coach with the most wins at season’s end is declared the champion.
- Preseason Tie-Breaking Picks: Prior to the season start, every Coach will make three tie-breaking picks based on who they think will make it the furthest. These selections, more specifically their placements, will be used as the third tiebreaker if needed.
- Leaderboard: All Coaches compete on a site-wide leaderboard where every weekly win or loss affects your overall ranking.
[1.3.1 - Tiebreakers]
In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be applied in order:
- Longest Undefeated Run: The Coach who stayed undefeated for the longest period.
- Least Votes Against: The lowest combined total number of votes against each of the castaways coaches picked throughout the season.
- Longest Winning Streak: The Coach who achieved the longest consecutive streak of weekly wins.
- Preseason Tie-Breaker Picks: The lowest (best) combined placement of the three preseason tie-breaking picks.
- Tie!: If all else is equal, all will claim victory!
[2.0 Community Features]
Tribal Survival goes beyond individual competition with community-driven features that enhance your experience. Create or join groups to compete with friends in your own private leaderboards, and explore season statistics to gain insights into coaching trends, popular picks, and standout performances across the entire community.
[2.1 - Groups]
- Compete with Friends: Create or join groups to compete against specific Coaches rather than just the site-wide leaderboard.
-
Group Types:
- Public Groups: Browsable by all users; anyone can join and compete.
- Private Groups: Invite-only; the group owner shares an invite code with selected Coaches.
- Creating Groups: Any coach can create a group for the current season and automatically becomes the group owner.
- Registering Entries: After joining a group, you can register each of your entries (1, 2, or 3) to compete in that group, unless limited by the group owner. Each entry can be registered to up to 5 different groups.
- Group Leaderboards: Each group has its own leaderboard showing only the entries registered to that group. The same tiebreakers from section 1.3.1 apply.
- Group Management: Only the group owner can manage group settings and send invitations for private groups.
[2.2 - Statistics]
Community Insights: View aggregated statistics for all entries or filter by specific groups.
-
Available Stats:
- Win/Loss percentages and participation rates
- Longest win streaks across all Coaches
- Most frequently picked castaways
- Eliminated castaways by episode
- Undefeated Coaches (those with zero losses)
- Group Filtering: Use the group selector to view statistics for a specific group or see site-wide data.
- Statistical Notes: Win and loss percentages only count entries that submitted picks for a given week (not weeks that were skipped or missed).
